During the cyclebum golden years, I wrote about the closing of Discovery/Big Wheel Cycles and the great times I had there.
I really missed having a part time wrench job and not having a "bat cave" to do race prep at.
Now, I am back at it. Now, its my job job. At this very moment, I am somewhat of a freelance mechanic. I work at more than one shop while not having a schedule anywhere. I get calls when I am needed. For the past few months it has been about 4-6 days a week of wrenching. I enjoy making bicycles operate well. I see the immediate impact on the machine I am working on. People are stoked to get their rec. bike back or relieved to be mobile again. The people I work with and encounter at shops enrich my life.
I am learning. I am paying attention to much more than wrenching. The biz.
There will be a day where I have my own Broadway show.

Im back from never leaving
So now. Lets do a brief and not so detailed catchup.
Things started getting thin here during my bout with corporate procedure and protocol.
Basically, I got canned.
As is with that door/window saying, it wasn't the end of the world.
However, it did mean I didn't have (corporate) time to waste and do things like write this there thing.
I have missed this here thing.
Ive had people mention it to me. At rides, on the street, or at 25mph in the peloton 5 laps into a driveway race.
Truth is, I am living cycling right now.
As in making a living.
Im back to wrenching in some ATX's friendly neighborhood bike shops.
Ive got to say. I enjoy working in bike shops.
I have been riding mostly mountain bikes recently.
The greenbelt has a good flow for quite some time.
It was a great spring for MTB'ing.
Ive done a few road races and criteriums this season too. Im about 3 starts from gettin' that 4 upgrade.
Back to MTB'ing. Ive whined about it before. People are missing out. There is some special stuff in mountain biking. I will leave it at that for now........, with emphasis on the ...'s
P.S. Wear your sunglasses. Almost lost a peeper on a ride recently. Buy cheap sunglasses with three interchangeable lenses. Think UVEX (PRP Sponsor), Tifosi, or Optic Nerve.
Alright folks, rust knocked off. Expect the usual expectations from now on.
Also will be showing some catch-up pics.
